Talk therapy has the same limitation for a different reason. It builds insight and understanding, which is valuable. But emotional memory is stored differently from declarative memory. The neural pathways encoding your anxiety, your self-worth beliefs, or your reactivity were formed through repeated emotional experience and they do not update because you understand them intellectually.
To update them, you need to access the memory system directly during a specific neurological window and allow the brain to re-encode the emotional content. That process is called memory reconsolidation and it is the primary mechanism underlying the deeper work at Strong Shoulders.
